‘faith shapes not only individuals but entire communities’

By CLARE CRIBBEN, HEADTEACHER

It is a real privilege to introduce myself as the Headteacher of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School who has been received into the Catholic Church on this Easter Vigil. I am delighted to be part of such a warm, welcoming, and faith-filled community. I would like to share with you my personal journey of faith and how it has shaped both my life and roles entrusted to me.

My journey towards a deeper connection with the Catholic faith has been gradual and deeply fulfilling.

From a young age, I felt close to Christianity and its core beliefs, which laid a strong foundation for my later exploration of Catholicism in greater depth. Studying theology and religious studies while gaining my Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) was a turning point – offering me the opportunity to reflect more deeply on the teachings of Christ and the life of the Church.

Throughout my career in education, especially within Catholic schools, I have found my faith has strengthened.

Working in faith-based environments has reinforced my understanding and appreciation of Catholic values, while also providing many opportunities to witness others on their own faith journeys. Now, as Headteacher of St Joseph’s, I feel a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility to help nurture the spiritual and moral development of the young people in our care.

My belief in Catholic education is rooted in the conviction that faith shapes not only individuals but entire communities. This belief has led to meaningful changes in my own life – deepening my sense of peace, guiding me to live with greater compassion and intention, and reminding me of the importance of service to others.

The support from our parish, clergy and school community has been truly invaluable. It has provided encouragement, wisdom, and a strong spiritual foundation for my leadership.

Being part of the St Joseph’s community – within both the school and parish – has been an incredible blessing. The shared sense of faith and purpose here is inspiring and has helped me feel truly supported and spiritually nourished.

Looking ahead, I am excited to continue growing in my relationship with God and to explore new ways of living out my faith in everyday life. I believe God is calling me to serve more actively – as a Catholic leader, a teacher, and a member of this vibrant parish. I look forward to walking this path together, and to sharing the peace and joy that a deeper faith brings.
