Volunteering opportunities to support CAFOD and our parish

Have you considered a new year’s resolution to volunteer more in our parish? There are a number of opportunities for you to use your skills and passion for social justice to support St Joseph’s church and the local community.

We are looking for volunteers to be ambassadors for CAFOD in the Archdiocese of Southwark in a variety of roles. Perhaps you are a people person who can work with other CAFOD volunteers doing activities in the parish. Are you a confident public speaker who would enjoy raising awareness of our faith and global social justice in churches or schools? Or are you organised and would relish helping to coordinate CAFOD activities across an area?

If you are interested, please get in touch with Eileen, Nalini or Marine for more details or to book a place on the next CAFOD energiser day on Saturday 23 January 2016, 10am – 3:30pm in Amigo Hall, St George’s Cathedral, Waterloo. Phone 020 8466 9901, email southwark@cafod.org.uk or visit the website at http://cafodenergiser.eventbrite.co.uk

Elsewhere, we are looking for volunteers to help the church. Even if you can spare 30 minutes a month, this would benefit the whole parish community. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with:

  •   Cleaning of the church and/or upper room,
  •   Taking food to the Foodbank
  •   Admin. duties.
  •   Hospitality

To help with any of these roles, please contact the Parish Office on 020 8402 0459.

Additionally, we have a team of dedicated volunteers who wash the altar linens, but they require others to join them on a rota basis. The linen can be collected from, and returned to, the sacristy at any time. If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, please contact Julia Mellish on 020 8464 3950 or Deacon Barry on 07445 417335 or by emailing barry_mellish@yahoo.com.
