A series of seminars hosted by SS Joseph & Swithun Parish this spring will see a variety of speakers help parishioners to reflect, pray and respond to the action of God’s spirit in our lives.
Life in the Spirit seminars start on Wednesday 18 April and will cover themes such as God’s love, receiving God’s gift, renewal in the Holy Spirit and transformation in Christ.
They will run every Wednesday evening (7.45pm) for seven weeks in St Joseph’s Parish Hall, concluding with a celebration Mass on Wednesday 6 June at 7.30pm in St Joseph’s Church.
Three years ago, Pope Francis urged clergy to provide Life in the Spirit seminars in parishes, seminaries, schools and neighbourhoods and to share Baptism in the Spirit.
Father Tom McHugh says: “We have been praying for the past four years that we be open to the ‘freshness of the Spirit’, and now daily after Mass we pray: ‘Pour out on us the gifts of the Holy Spirit.’ As we journey towards a new Pentecost in 2018, remember that Mary our mother prays with us as she did with the disciples before the first Pentecost.”
The seminars are open to anyone, including active and resting Catholics, Christians from other churches and people of other faiths or no faith.
