Progressio, an organisation with Catholic Roots that supports poor and marginalised people, is calling on Britons to engage with their MPs about climate change in a day of action this June.
In a recent e-newsletter, the organisation writes: “We know that MPs respond to constituents. We know that, the more we demand of them, the more they deliver. We know that, if you don’t put your issue on their agenda, it’s not going to get the attention it deserves.”
The day of climate action on Wednesday 17 June will be an opportunity to meet your local MP and challenge them on climate change.
The invitation from Progressio reflects that this message is vitally important in the run-up to the Paris climate talks in December. “Governments will come together to set out a global action plan to curb climate change and stop it destroying the lives of the world’s most vulnerable people.“
The event takes place in Westminster, London, with activities in the morning and, in the afternoon, different constituencies meeting their MPs at different times between 1-4pm. A large rally will follow with inspirational speakers and a chance for reflection on how far the climate movement has come.
