Deacons prepare for head shave to raise money for cancer charity

Deacons Aidan McPartlan and  Barry Mellish will be losing their hair to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, following Deacon Aidan’s future daughter-in-law’s diagnosis with leukaemia.

When Billie was diagnosed in early September, she decided to have her long hair cut to make a wig for children. A week later, before starting her chemotherapy treatment, she had it cut.

“As you can imagine, I am very proud of Billie,” said Deacon Aidan. “I already think of her as my daughter. I am so impressed with her – and her can-do attitude.”

To support Billie and to raise funds for Macmillan, Aidan and Barry are going to Brave the Shave and lose their locks. You can donate to the cause and support Barry here and Aidan here.

“Me losing the little hair that I have is the least I can do to show my support for her,” said Aidan.

More important than your money are your prayers. please pray for Billie and her fiancé Tony – they are getting married next year – and their families.

Billie has started her own blog. You can read My Cancer Diary here.
