To reduce the spread of the coronavirus, all Catholic Churches in England and Wales have been instructed that they are no longer able to have a public Mass in the Church. If you would like to follow Mass through the internet, please go to the web pages listed on the home page of the Parish Website, and at Communion time, make a Spiritual Communion.
Fr Peter and Fr Matthew will be celebrating Mass privately every day, and will be praying for all parishioners at every Mass. During the week, we will remember all the Mass Intentions which have been requested, and on Sunday the 11am Mass intentions.
All other Sunday Mass intentions will need to be rearranged.
Baptisms will not be celebrated until the public health advice says that congregations can once again gather safely.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available only upon request.
The Celebration of First Holy Communion, Confirmation and Matrimony will be postponed until a time that allows for families and friends to gather safely within our churches.
Anointing of the Sick or Holy Communion to the Housebound – No pastoral visits should be made to people who are self-isolating until the isolation period ends.
Funerals – There will be no Requiem Masses. The funeral service should take place at the graveside or at a crematorium. Memorial Masses can be offered at a later stage, once congregations are allowed to gather again.
Please note that the Church will continue to be open at the usual times, for people to come and pray privately. Kindly remember to continue to follow the general guidelines; use the sanitising gel provided and keep a safe distance from each other.
Fr Peter says: “In the light of these drastic measures, let us all be united in pray to Almighty God, our Blessed Lady, and our patron St Joseph, that they may help us all through this most difficult time. May God bless and protect you all.”
