Whole parish pilgrimage to Aylesford will be a family celebration

This year’s annual parish celebration is a pilgrimage to beautiful Aylesford Priory in Kent, and it will be a day that the whole family can enjoy.

This whole parish pilgrimage – on Saturday 18 June 2016 – will include Mass, a picnic lunch (barbecue), reconciliation, a walk in the Peace Garden and an opportunity to pray the rosary along the Rosary Way.

Coaches to Aylesford will depart from St Joseph’s at 10.30am and return at approximately 5pm. If you wish to travel by coach, a £5 deposit is required to book a seat. There is a leaflet in the foyer with more information, including a sign-up page for those who wish to join the pilgrimage or travel by coach. Those travelling independently should let the parish know to assist with planning.

The Carmelite Priory at Aylesford was first established by hermits from Mount Carmel in 1242. It is a popular place of pilgrimage and more than 200,000 pilgrims make their way to Aylesford every year. The Friars is set in stunning, spacious grounds and is a blend of medieval and modern. Its chapels contain outstanding works of religious art. The peace garden and rosary way provide space for reflection, while the grounds offer families the space to enjoy a day out together.
